Watching powerful women overcome systemic misogyny and horrible sexual abuse is always a double-edged sword for me, and this story was no different. I want to see him (or them) die a horrible death, and at the same time I greatly appreciate her strength, her resilience, and her determination. This particular such story had me on the edge of my seat, and acting like I do sometimes in the movies, hands over my eyes in self-protection, but peering between my fingers so I don't miss anything. In any case, the book is well written, it's well paced, she develops the characters well, and I highly recommend it.

captivating and sensual tale

I liked the story in that it was very mysterious and made me want to listen to it to the very end. The story was very interesting, and I felt like I was actually in that eerie lake. Brenda K. Ward has a master mind in making you feel that you just have to listen to the very end to see what happens. It's very romantic and I couldn't stop listening to Rob Dorman as he read with great gusto and great energy. What a story is all I can say! I would think about it all day and wonder how it was going to end.

I liked the story. While the book seemed thin at first, the story didn't feel short. It's well paced, with relatable characters, that kept me turning the pages to find out the end. Recommended.
